Chapter Scholarship Programs and Activities

Scholarship Activities

The Charlotte Area public school system has over twenty (20) Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) units in their high schools. An additional 19 JROTC Units at high school throughout the Charlotte Metropolitian Area including the "Upstate Area of South Carolina" are included in the Chapter's catchment area. The Chapter supports these units with medals and certificates each year for the outstanding cadet from each high school unit. In addition, we provide commissioning bars and certificates for two University level ROTC units at University of North Carolina Charlotte at graduating and commissioning ceremonies each year.

In the spring of 2017 four $2,000 scholarships were awarded. On Oct. 6, 2017, the Chapter held it's third annual Golf Tournament. Funds from this and past events will be used to award scholarships in the Spring of 2018.

The scholarship committee has established legal and financial procedures to ensure that the scholarship efforts are in accordance with our by-laws, the directions of National MOAA and the Internal Revenue Service's declaration that the Charlotte-Metrolina Chapter is designated as a tax exempt organization under Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3) and as such is free to accept donations to further the ends of the scholarship program. See the News and Events Page of this website for future fundraising activities.
